So many thoughts race through my mind: fear as a child, loneliness, the what am going to do, how do I get through this feeling, quiet, peaceful moments. "Faith reminds us that darkness is only a detour, never a destination."

I loved that quotation too!! It reminds me of the figure/ground distinction. I can think of reality as fundamentally bad and see the good as a temporary respite, or I can think of reality as fundamentally good and see the bad as temporary. To be honest, I think I'm naturally inclined to the former perspective, but ever since I realized that the other point of view was possible, and just as consistent with the evidence, I've tried to intentionally adopt it.
