I will travel to Jamaica on Saturday. I love the connection to this chapter. Certainly, I feel extremely blessed to be able to take this trip with my adult children and their significant others. The bigger connection is the culture of Jamaica. They embrace blessing in all they do. I common greeting or salutation is "Bless up". They want to send all they know into the word with a blessing. Another common phrase is "Irie" which means all is good. It is a part of their culture to accept that life is good and it is easy to find goodness in everything around you. They are thankful for the land they live on which full of food. We will spend a day hiking with a Rastafarian named Fyre. I have spent a day with him before and know I will leave with a sense of gratitude and peace. "Faith is not an idea, but an action" (p. 43). Fyre lives his faith through his respect for his health, respect for the earth, and respect for others. I feel blessed to be reinvigorated by a person of different faith tradition than mine but love of Spirit binds us together.
